Mr. Miyagi would be proud

Saturday I passed my test for my gray belt. It wasn't that hard at all. Today was the day that we received our certificate saying that we completed the course and our gray belts.

We had to go over the moves that we learned in tan belt and then move on to learn new moves for the gray belt. The test was five moves from tan; any five that the instructor chose at random. Then we had to complete, successfully, every move that we learned in gray belt.

Thursday was a day where we just grappled. We fought for about 20 min or so. I thought it was going to be a lot shorter, but the instructor decided that we would fight each person for 1 1/2 minutes instead of just 1. It was extremely tiring and brutal. It got to the point where you could not feel your muscles. The people that we last to fight you pretty much had their way with you because you were too tired to fight back at 100% or even 50%. I went first because I wanted to get it over with. Prob a bad idea since everyone was fresh. Once I was finished fighting everyone, the next person in line had to fight everyone. That's including myself. We sat in a circle and it went around in order until everyone was in the center once. So not only do you fight for 20 min. straight, you then have to fight another 11 times after your body already wants to shut down. It was really good training.

So after some bloody knuckles and bumps and bruises

I am a gray belt ninja and I wear my gray belt proudly.

Ok so maybe that's not the right way to wear it. After about twenty-five minutes of struggling and googling, I finally figured out how to wear it.

I am hopefully going for the next belt while I am out here, but who knows if that's really a possibility just yet. I don't really feel any different. It's kinda like graduating from kindergarten. There really isn't a reason to graduate from kindergarten, but it's a good excuse to have a party and eat cake.
