DIY Fall Wreath

So who doesn't love a fun DIY craft for the coming season??! I sure do. And this craft project is kind of a big deal....



A wreath. A wreath. An actual wreath. I officially feel like a wife now. I haven't really ever allowed a wreath on our door. Why?? I don't know.... It's just soooo.. WREATHY. Marriedy. Wifey. Old persony. I don't know. Feel free to judge me.


Anywho, I've been searching all around pinterest for fun fall things. And don't get me wrong, there are a lot of GREAT ideas out there, but there are some seriously tacky ones too. I'm not judging, it's just not my taste. So I kind of picked and pulled little tiny things from each craft and created my own.


So, directions:


I started with a plain wreath (you can buy them at hobby lobby for $4, apply a 40% coupon: $2 and some change. Score!) and some different colored sheets of card stock paper. I wanted to go with an ombre-ish look on my wreath so I chose accordingly.







I found a super easy tutorial on pinterest on how to make paper rosettes here. 


Super easy, right??


Anyways, so I just made a bunch of those. And they all looked SUPER cute together.







Then hot glued the shizzies out of them. Right onto the wreath. Printed out a little FALL sign, hot glued it onto some twin. And VOILA! My first wreath ever.

So.




It's happened.... It finally has made the switch. The weather is ABSOLUTELY gorg!!! Like, 75, sunny, breezy, beautiful... delicious weather.


We all had a picnic Sunday afternoon and we sat in the pleasant breeze and weren't consumed by sweaty humidity. IT. Was. Ah-mazing.


Mona's been enjoying it too. So much. Her favorite thing is to sit on the porch with me really early in the morning and stare at all the passer-byers, or to sit in the park and smoke a cigar, you know, doggy-type thingz.

It's officially FALL!!!!!!!! October 1st!  It's oFFALLcial!!!! OMG!




Okay,  relax,  I know the first official day of Fall was September 23... But to ME, the first official day of Fall is October 1. So, sorry Mr. Calendar-Maker-Guy... You'll eventually see things my way.


Anywho, the first official day of Fall has arrived! That meaaaaaans, for the next 30 days we get to be festive to the max!


And Mona is totally on board!! Clearly!






And yes, that outfit is totally appropriate for that little... devil. :D

PumpkinHead

So I have a new obsession and it's yes, it's pumpkin. The more pumpkin I can get my hands on, the better.

Pumpkin Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies, 

pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin cream pie, 

pumpkin beer, 

heck I even made VEGAN pumpkin cookies. 

I can't get enough! I really can't. But I don't know why. My obsession with pumpkin right now is clearly scaring everyone in sight....

Who knows, maybe it's because I didn't like pumpkin as a kid so I feel like I have to make up or it. Or maybe it's because Fall doesn't really exist down here so I'm trying to Fall-ify my life. I don't know.

But all I do know is that my new obsession is so bad I'm hoping at midnight my car might magically turn into a pumpkin... I'd be totally fine with that.

Mojave Viper

Welp, folks, we are now entering Phase 2 of the Deployment. Zack left today for Twentynine Palms, in California, east of LA, and right above Mexico. Twentynine Palms is a HUGE area (932 square miles) owned by the government used for training and testing just about every weapon the military has (besides nukes of course). Zack will be staying in Camp Wilson which is a sub section of Twentynine Palms. They'll be training out in Mojave Viper and living in what looks like a HUGE campbell's soup container plopped on it's side. Unfortunately, there will be no cell phone service or internet access for the next 5 weeks that the marines are there. So you can pray for safety and protection for these boys while they are training their butts off in 100 degree weather!
