February 8, 2010 my husband returned home from his tour in Iraq. I can't look at these pictures without a huge lump filling up my entire throat and my eyes drowning with tears. It still feels so fresh. I can't look at a person in uniform without feeling my heart lurch. They have such a special place in my heart.
I am so so thankful that he is home and safe. And Lord willing we will never have to go through that again.
photo credit: Nienke Izurieta. Thanks, Nienk for taking these photographs. They are more special than I could ever put in words.
Once again I just want to publicly thank ALL of our armed services and their families. What you do on a day to day basis is totally indescribable, honorable and sacrificial. Thank you again.

make that 2 and 1/2 lumps!
you know what is so strange. a few days ago, i was looking up all of these marine homecoming videos just because. BUT, maybe really in my mind, subconsciously, i was remembering exactly on year ago. is that really JUST one year ago?? Anyway. I was thinking about zack a lot the other day and you and how much you've both sacrificed in your marriage for the Marine Corps and ultimately for me. You're the best of friends I could ask for. And I feel weird saying this in a blog comment, but i would in real life if I saw you everyday like I used to :( :( LOVE YOU
