Philly Phun

So... I have somewhat of an obsession. Well, some would call it an obsession. I call it pride. Pride in this furry green creature that came all the way from the Galapagos Islands. Pride in the fact that he may or may not be the most sued Mascot in sports history. Pride in the fact that my own father resembles him in an unmistakable uncanny way (my whole life I've had serious questions about who this mascot REALLY is underneath all that fur.....) Pride in my City. My sports teams. My home.

You never realize what you have until it's gone. I've heard it a billion times. But as I stare at this last week in the face, this last week that I have here in the City of Brotherly Love, I already miss it. My heart already aches for the Art Museum, Kelly Drive, Boathouse Row, Loie, Rittenhouse Square, Philly's sports radio, Walnut Street shopping, South Street, Penn's Landing, Olde City, Manayunk Brew Pub and SOO much more.

I decided I needed to bring a little bit of Philly with me to Florida. This summer they have been having a PHANTASTIC promotion. They took the Philly Phanatic and made twenty 6 foot replicas of him and stuck them all around town. He's adorable. And he's only there for about a week more. So I took my camera, and my little sister and we went on a Phanatic hunt to find the furry little guy. And find him we did!! (ps- they are auctioning off all the Phanatic statues at the end of this month, so if anyone has an extra $5,000 they wanna give me, just throw it into my open arms!)

Rittenhouse Square:

Betsy Ross House:

Independence Visitor Center:

OH and while I'm at it I have to tell this story. As my little sister (who shall remain nameless for embarrassment's sake....) are driving down around the Betsy Ross house (the streets are pretty tight), I drove past this horse and buggy, which was in the right lane. Well AS I drive past it, the horse decides to sneeze and shake it's head at the same time, which resulted in brown snot flying all over Li- I mean my sister's face. It was extremely entertaining. Ta ta for now!

ps - a big HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE SISTER JENNY. wooooooooooo! Cheers to you Jen!
